Fixed Base Operator (a.k.a. FBO)

Cabotage

Cabotage is the transport of goods or passengers for compensation between two points in the same country. Most countries have some form of cabotage regulation – their own rules regarding the rights of aircraft from another country to transport passengers within their country. While NetJets can fly Marquis Jet Card Owners to just about any country, government regulations may restrict NetJets from flying Card Owners between points within certain countries. Owner Services will advise Card Owners of any situation where this applies, e.g. a flight from Toronto to Montreal.

Overflight Exemption

Normally, when a flight enters U.S. airspace from the south, it must land at the first, designated, near-border "airport of entry" to clear U.S. Customs before flying over any further U.S. territory. An "overflight exemption" allows an operator of a private aircraft to bypass this requirement and Clear Customs at the U.S. destination airport, thereby avoiding a landing/takeoff and saving you time. If one passenger on a NetJets flight has an overflight exemption, the flight can request to land at any approved U.S. Customs airport. The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Overflight Exemption pertains only to flights entering the U.S. from the Caribbean Basin, the Bahamas, South America, Latin America and Mexico. Overflight exemptions can be obtained from the FAA through your Owner Services team and require estimated approval time of 3-6 months.
